French Connection: Will McDowell-White heads to JL

Will McDowell-White is extending his stay in Europe, signing with French club JL Bourg for the 2025–26 season. The 27-year-old Queenslander most recently played with Alba Berlin in Germany, where he featured across multiple competitions including the German BBL and EuroLeague.
In 33 BBL appearances for Berlin, McDowell-White averaged 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He also played 22 games in the EuroLeague, adding 5.7 points and 3.8 assists per game against top-tier international opposition.
A return to Europe had long been McDowell-White’s preference, although several NBL clubs made strong bids in recent weeks to lure him back to Australia. The former Boomer, who was open to a homecoming in the NBL, ultimately chose to stay abroad.
Desire To Finish Career In Australia
In a conversation with basketball.com.au earlier in the year, McDowell-White revealed he would "definitely like" to finish his career with the Bullets, the club where he grew up watching his idols as a boy in Queensland in the early 2000s.
“I've already kind of thought about it. There's a high chance I'd like to end my career (in Brisbane) and just get set up with life after basketball as well,” White said in an exclusive interview with basketball.com.au.
“You know, I'd definitely like to end my career in Brisbane and just play where I grew up watching Derek Rucker and Sam Mackinnon and all these guys going to the bloody (Brisbane) Convention Centre every second week to watch the Bullets.
“That's probably where I'll end up living the rest of my life.
“So yeah, I'm sure I know there's people that would want me there right now in the prime of my career but, I think right now, (Europe) is probably the best place to be."
