In one of the most absorbing games of the group stage, Australia claimed a narrow 70–66 victory over France, securing a vital win and boosting their podium aspirations.

France pushed back hard, with Nell Angloma posting 19 points and Sarah Cisse delivering a double-double (18 points, 16 rebounds). However, repeated missed layups and free throws ultimately hurt the French late as Australia was able to hold them at bay.
