Chloe Bibby’s rollercoaster debut showed resilience, sharp shooting and untapped long-term potential

Australian basketball forward Chloe Bibby's 2025 WNBA campaign is the true definition of perseverance and resilience.

The 27-year-old Victorian did absolutely everything she could to play in the 14 games she did for the Golden State Valkyries and Indiana Fever before succumbing to a season-ending knee injury.

  • February 5: Signed to a training camp contract with the Valkyries
  • May 14: Waived by the Valkyries during training camp
  • June 15: Re-signed with the Valkyries during the season.
  • June 30: Waived again by the Valkyries.
  • July 20: Wins Asia Cup with Australia, playing five games at the tournament
  • July 25: Signed by the Indiana Fever to a seven-day contract.
  • August 1: Signs with the Fever for the remainder of the 2025 season.
  • August 22: Listed as "out" on the pre-game injury report (left knee).
  • September 4: Indiana Fever revealed Bibby would miss the rest of the season due to a left knee injury.

basketball.com.au contributor Hayley Wildes described Bibby's first game for the Valkyries at the end of July as "electric".

"In her WNBA regular season debut, Bibby was electric as the Valkyries defeated the Indiana Fever, 88-77. Bibby played 24 minutes and finished with 12 points (4/9 FG) and 3 rebounds, showcasing her outside shooting with a pair of triples. A few days later, she again proved valuable for Golden State as they dominated Connecticut, 87-63, finishing with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 20 minutes of action," Wildes wrote.

Through it all, Bibby shot 40.5% from three, 89% from the free throw line and averaged almost five points per game and two rebounds in 11 minutes per game.
