Ben Simmons, Patty Mills still unsigned as Aussies shuffle NBA rosters for 2025-26 season

Australian Josh Giddey's stalemate with the Chicago Bulls is over, signing a four-year USD $100M deal to stay in the Windy City.

The deal is worth AUD $152.5M, about $38M per season.

Ben Simmons and Patty Mills are yet to sign with NBA teams for the 2025-26 season while 23-year-old Akoldah Gak signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Washington Wizards overnight.

Both Simmons, 29, and Mills, 36, are free agents. Simmons reportedly received a one-year minimum contract offer from the New York Knicks, which he has rejected, reports Marc Stein.

Sydney-born Gak averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 16.8 minutes per game across during the 2025 Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Australian wing Dante Exum officially re-signed with the Mavs on September 2, 2025 after they created a roster spot by waiving O-Max Prosper.

Chicago Bulls and Australian Boomers starting point guard Josh Giddey is a restricted free agent. He and the Bulls are in the middle of a stalemate of the extension.

Australian centre Duop Reath will remain at the Portland Trail Blazers with his $2.2M USD salary fully guaranteed by the Rip City franchise.

Reath, 29, has averaged 7.1 points and three boards in 15 minutes in two seasons at Portland.

Australian Jock Landale has signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Landale, 29, had two years remaining on his Rockets contract: 2025-26 worth $8M; and $8M team option in 2026-27 but was waived before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Australian Lachlan Olbrich has signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls. Olbrich, selected with the 55th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, signed his first NBA contract on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Matisse Thybulle opted into his $11.5M contract at the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

What is an Exhibit 10 deal

Exhibit 10 was introduced as part of the the NBA's 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year deals worth the minimum salary. These contracts come without compensation protection but can include an optional bonus worth as little as $5K and – in 2025-26 – as much as $85,300 (USD).
